Good Week/Bad Week in Branding

When it comes to the global auto industry, there just wasn’t a good week to be found.

Bad Week: General Motors – The world’s third-largest automotive manufacturer issues a stop-sales order and recalls close to 2,000 Chevrolet and GMC vehicles in the U.S., Canada and Mexico due to potentially faulty front airbags.

Worse Week: Audi – A Texas jury orders the Volkswagen imprint to pay $124.5 million to the family of a child who was severely debilitated after an accident, finding that the seat back of the 2005 A4 model was too frail to withstand a rear-end collision.

Worst Week: Volkswagen – The unraveling of the world’s largest carmaker continues as its top U.S. exec “steps down” in the aftermath of the company’s self-inflicted emissions-cheating scandal. Farfegnugen my eye.
